Pompeian fresco depicting a Nereid in the act of watering a sea monster in the shape of a panther. The Nereids were mythological figures, marine nymphs, daughters of Nereus and Oceanina Doride. The panther was a sacred animal that according to the myth could be tamed by wine mixed with honey. In the fresco you can see the cup and the cruet.
